Delectable Valentine’s at Alfresco Gusto

Come 14 February, love will be in the air, and if you choose to dine at Alfresco Gusto, love will be in the food too because Alfresco Gusto offers Delectable Valentine’s, a 4-course dinner at just $49++ per pax.

The meal starts on a high note with a Tasmanian Oyster Shooter. Alfresco Gusto’s version is a modest-sized but incredibly fresh oyster doused in a basil-based sauce that is tart and refreshing. This dish, served green and cold, really whets the appetite and shows one shouldn’t judge a dish by its appearance.

Next on the menu: Tomato Gazpacho. Alfresco Gusto’s gazpacho is creamier, altered to suit Singaporean taste buds that aren’t quite as accustomed to the taste of raw tomatoes. The dish doesn’t lose any of gazpacho’s intended freshness and tartness, making it the second satisfying appetiser in a row.

We were done with two appetisers both of which belonged to the tart flavour profile. We were by now hungry for food.

The main course is a choice between Pan Fried Cod Fish or Oven Baked Lamb Wellington. We tried both.

Between both dishes, the real heart-stopper is the Oven Baked Lamb Wellington. Held at knifepoint, the flaky pastry crumbled to reveal a piece of juicy lamb blushing with pink perfection. The pastry is kept thin so you don’t get full from flour.

Valentine’s Day wouldn’t be complete without chocolate. The 4-course meal wraps up with a Raspberry Chocolate Cake. This rich and chocolaty cake is injected with tart raspberry puree, which neutralises the sweetness of the chocolate cake. This is a decadent chocolate cake not for the faint-hearted!
